Changing patterns in the way we travel and having greater reliance on the car for regular transport contributes to declining levels of physical activity, increasing levels of obesity and diabetes, widespread air pollution, social isolation, and worsening health inequalities. Recently smarter working practices have highlighted the potential to increase healthier and more environmentally friendly ways to travel to support more sustainable forms of transport.
Our plan includes:
- Developing and implementing Healthy Travel Charters across public, private and third sectors.
- Further developing and maintaining cycling and walking infrastructure and cycling parking
- Developing an integrated public transport system
